Explain The Difference – Lying Or Exaggerating

My friend bumped his head and had a swollen lump that lasted a couple of days. When he would tell people about the accident, he would say that he had a lump the size of a grapefruit on his head.; Actually the size of the bump more closely resembled a grape not a grapefruit. Was he lying about his injury? No, he was exaggerating.

Exaggeration is often used in story-telling (real or fictional) to make a dramatic impression or to add humor. Take turns giving examples of exaggeration.
