Table Topics
Mind-stretching brain games and conversation starters. It's the perfect opportunity for sharing stories, building knowledge, strengthening character, and having fun!
Play a game. One person starts by saying I have a garden. In my garden I grow
something that starts with the letter (a-z). Others take turns asking the
gardener questions about the mystery plant that can be answered with a yes or no
answer. The person who correctly identifies the mystery plant becomes the new
gardener.
For example, if the gardener wanted the others to try and guess the plant
turnip, the play could go something like this:
“I have a garden. In my garden I grow something that starts with the letter
‘t’.”
“Is it a fruit?” “No.”
“Is it a flower?” “No.”
“Is it soft?” “No.”
“Do people cook it in soup?” “Yes.”
Before beginning the game determine whether or not you will have a limit on how
many questions can be asked before the players guessing are declared stumped (as
in 20 questions).

“Be of good cheer. Do not think of today's failures, but of the success
that may come tomorrow. You have set yourself a difficult task, but you will
succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.”
– Helen Keller

attempts. New skills learned in school or on the job took effort and
perseverance. Consider the difference in your life if you had not made the
