Play A Math Game – Create A Problem

Play a challenging, no equipment necessary, Math game. One benefit of this game is that it adapts easily to the skill level of each player.

  • Player One starts by stating and solving any type Math problem out loud.  For example,  132 + 8 = 140
  • Player Two must then start with the number 140. A beginning learner might add the digits together. 1+ 4+ 0 = 5.
  • Player Three starts with 5.  5 squared is 25.
  • Player Four: 25 is 1/4 of 100.
  • Player Five: If I had a 100 dollar bill and spent $87.42, I would have $12.58 left.

Hint:  Set up your rotation of turns so that a young player's turn comes after a more advanced player.  This person can then create a problem that results in numbers the beginning learner can easily use.
