Similes are easy and a lot of fun. Compare one noun to another noun by linking the two with the word like or the word as.

• The journey to the water fountain was like a trip across the desert.
• When he was angry, his voice was as sharp as a knife.

A coral snake’s bite can be deadly, so predators stay away.  The king snake doesn’t have a poisonous bite, but it’s red, black and yellow strips remind predators of the coral snake.  The king snake benefits from mimicry.
