Serves 4

Change the Serving Size

1 pound lean ground beef
2 slices sourdough bread
2 ounces onion
1/4 cup Worchestershire sauce
2 tablespoons ranch salad dressing
2 tablespoons ketchup
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs
2 teaspoons butter
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 cup beef gravy

Grocery Shopping List for Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Directions
  1. Remove crust from bread and grate very small (stale bread works best).
  2. Dice onion. In a bowl, mix bread crumbs and onions into ground beef. Add Worcestershire sauce, ranch dressing, ketchup, pepper, and eggs and blend well. Place in refrigerator to chill.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet. Add mushrooms and brown over medium heat stirring continuously until the mushrooms have absored the butter. Pour water over the top completely covering the mushrooms. Continue cooking on medium, stirring ocassionally, until all the water has been cooked off. Reduce heat to low, simmer and stir until mushrooms are firm (about 2 or 3 minutes). Set aside.
  4. Form hamburger into patties. Spray a skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Add patties and turn burner onto medium. Brown one side, flip and brown second side, reduce heat to low.
  5. While patties are browning, prepare potatoes according to package directions. Heat gravy and add mushrooms. Pour gravy over the Salisbury steaks and mashed potatoes. Serve with salad.
